Music critics weren't expecting much from Carly Rae Jepsen when she released her third studio record, E-MO-TION .  Her second record Kiss contained two top-10 hits, " Good Time ," a duet with Owl City , and the number 1 song of 2012, " Call Me Maybe ." But Kiss was immature as was the lead single from E-MO-TION, " I Really Like You ." However, the parent album of the single was much more grown up than Kiss. And while Jepsen may no longer be a hit maker on the Hot 100, her fan base and critical acclaim has remained consistent since releasing her pivotal third record E-MO-TION. Today we take a look at the original track list. We'll look at the deluxe editions and bonus tracks later.    1. " Run Away with Me " is perhaps the best Carly Rae Jepsen song. It's the beginning of an adventure, even if its just a weekend trip. The music video for the song features Jepsen and her band on their off days on tour, running around the cities of Par

The first single from Ariana Grande 's second record, My Everything ,  in 2014, " Problem " established Grande as a pop power force. Grande certainly has talent. While appearing in the Nickelodeon teen show Victorious , Grande uploaded covers to her YouTube channel , which landed her a deal with Republic Records in 2011. Her debut record, Yours Truly , was released in 2013 and featured a few modest-charting hits. Listeners could feel a similarity with Mariah Carey from Yours Truly, and for some reason, Republic Records went bigger with Grande's follow up, My Everything, the next year. Pop records used to be produced like this, and sometimes indie and major pop albums still are. But in order to get a hit, record labels often turn to multiple hitmakers to diversify a pop record. Earlier this year, I talked about Carly Rae Jepsen 's E-MO-TION   as an album I could listen to without skipping a track, which is quite a feat for a 12-track regular edition, 15-track deluxe edition. However, when I first started listening to the album, I couldn't stand one track. A lot of listeners really, really, really couldn't stand the lead single, " I Really Like You " but I found the track enduring and quite in-line with the singer's debut single, " Call Me Maybe ." Tracks in the middle of Jepsen's third record changed things up with maximalist '80s nostalgia: funky bass-lines, larger-than-life drums, and synths to fill in the atmosphere surrounding Jepsen's crisp vocals. SO TIRED OF HEARIN' ALL YOUR BOY PROBLEMS . Enlisting a slew of Swedish songwriters and producers; listening to Robyn , Cyndi Lauper , Prince , and Kylie Minogue for inspiration; and collaborating with the HAIM sisters, Sia , her band, and long-term collabo
