An album set in a fictional universe, the EXO -planet boys came back with their fifth studio album in 2018, Don't Mess Up My Tempo .   The 2018 was the Korean/Chinese boy band's most successful record in the United States, reaching number 23 on Billboard's Hot 200 album sales chart.  Closing the album is the R&B track " Oasis ." The music was composed by a young American-Lebanese songwriter named Andrew Bazzi , or just Bazzi . The groove of the 808 bass loops, staccato instruments, and the EXO boys' smooth vocals make "Oasis" an infectious track. I'M ON THE ROAD.   The young songwriter Bazzi has written for Nelly, Camila Cabello, and Lil' Wayne. So far, his biggest hit, 2017's "Mine" became famous as a SnapChat filter. Before this hit, though, he promoted his music through Vine. Besides "Oasis," Bazzi wrote "Oh La La La," which also appears on Don't Mess Up My Tempo as well as a track on the band'

"If U Love Me Now" by MUNA, Thursday, December 16, 2021 [Trigger Warning: Suicide]

Muna 's 2017 record About U takes listeners on a rollercoaster of emotion. Unlike their 2019 Saves the World record, About U focuses on the positive and negative of being in love and breaking up. About U doesn't enjoy the near universal acclaim that their follow up has, but album helped to establish the three-piece band of queer musicians on the scene of Alternative dark synth pop. Today the sadness, desperation,  and loneliness of " If U Love Me Now " resonated with the bleak December day. The song explores the theme of mental illness and suicide. The singer explores options before telling someone that that person should "just let [her] leave."  IT'S JUST A HYPOTHESIS I TEST THAT I SHOULD NOT EXIST . A large proportion of the LGBTQ+ community struggle with thoughts of suicide. When singer Katie Gavin sings on this melancholy track, her voice sounds weak and wounded, as if the singer of this song has resigned after her last hope has been dashed. The f

Muna's 2019 album, Saves the World , holds an 86 percent on Metacritic, being hailed with "Universal Acclaim." The sad lyrics often, masked under upbeat electronic hooks, create a break-up album that hits in ways that are simultaneously depressing and empowering. The sadness felt on the album is in stark contrast to their follow up single " Silk Chiffon ," an ode to the early stages of infatuation. But before the singer Katie Gavin can bring listeners to the Phoebe Bridgers-featured song, essentially a "getting back out there" anthem, she has to bring her audience to experience the heartbreak in Saves the World.  IF I PLAY OUR SONG, I THINK I'LL LOSE IT.   The annotator of the genius lyrics for this song said it best: "Muna creates the breakup edition of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie  with 'Stayaway.'" The third track on Saves the World and the the third single released before the album was released, 'Stayaway" talks about

MUNA is an alternative pop group composed of three friends who studied together at the University of Southern California . The trio self-produced their debut EP and uploaded it to Bandcamp and SoundCloud . The band's success with their debut EP led to the group signing with RCA records and releasing their 2017 debut record, About U. In May 2021, the band announced that they had signed to Phoebe Bridgers ' Saddest Factory record label. The group recently released the single " Silk Chiffon " which features Bridgers singing a verse. The song is one of the group's few singles to chart on Billboard , peaking at #35 on the US Alternative chart.  KEEPIN' IT LIGHT LIKE SILK CHIFFON. I think I first heard MUNA in the awkward teen comedy Alex Strangelove , a story about a high school senior who is struggling to understand his sexuality. All the members of MUNA identify as queer, though, as a lyricist lead singer Katie Gavin often avoided pronouns in the group
