It's been 22 years since the post-grunge " Hanging By a Moment " was the number 1 song of the year. Although the Christian Rock band  Lifehouse  never actually topped the weekly charts, the song had so much statistical force via radio play and record sales that the song became one of the rare cases when a single that peaked at number 2 could   actually claim the number 1 position for the year.  No Name Face   featured three singles, but none were as big as "Hanging By a Moment." For the band's follow-up, Lifehouse signed a Christian music marketing deal with Sparrow Records.  Stanley Climbfall   was nowhere near as successful as the  No Name Face,  but a sophomore slump didn't plunge the band into obscurity. In 2005, the band released their self-titled album which boasted their number one hit which was appearing in every TV show that year, the prom/wedding favorite, " You and Me ."    I WAS YOUNG BUT I WASN'T NAIVE.  " Blind ," th

Lifehouse was a made-for-TV band from their 2001 debut. The band was commercially marketed to many shows and movies. But unlike many of the other artists filling TV soundtracks, Lifehouse had radio hits. The band had Billboard ’s number 1 song of 2001 , “ Hanging By a Moment ” and the number 5 hit “ You and Me .” Both songs feature two different sounds of the ‘00s rock band. The band debuted with the post-grunge sounds on No Name Face . “Hanging By a Moment” eclipses the other two singles, “ Sick Cycle Carousel ” and “Breathing.” The band’s second album, Stanley Climbfall , also appeared as a sophomore slump, with the album’s two singles, “ Spin ” and “ Take Me Away ,” failing to impact the pop charts. Often this is the end of the story for pop-rock bands. I’LL KEEP US TOGETHER. While rock audiences were ambivalent to Lifehouse, the age of pop-rock was at its peak in the mid-’00s. Lifehouse continued releasing rock songs, but no longer with heavy guitars and drums on their eponymous

OneRepublic had finished recording their second album, Waking Up , but had two more days with the studio. But the band’s bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle told lead singer Ryan Tedder that he wanted to stay in the studio to flesh out an idea he had. That night, Kutzle wrote the band’s biggest hit from the album, “ Good Life .” Waking Up’ s singles paled in the shadow of OneRepublic’s first hit “ Apologize ,” which reached number 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 . “Good Life,” the album’s third U.S. single, reached number 8 on the Hot 100. The album’s first two singles, “ All the Right Moves ” and “ Secrets ” failed to reach the top 10.  Besides radio play, “Good Life” was played in many television shows and commercials. This upbeat song has optimistic, sincere lyrics, making it refreshing among often negative or trite optimism in pop music. SOMETIMES THERE’S BULLSHIT THAT DON’T WORK NOW. I remember a time in the early ‘00s when so many bands and artists on the radio were Christian or Christia

Before The Fray and OneRepublic , Lifehouse was the pop-rock band that appeared with their song " Hanging by a Moment " and then crossed over to the Christian market. Their debut album, No Name Face  garnered a lot of love both in the Christian and pop markets. Songs like "Hanging By a Moment" and " Breathing " were huge Top 40 hits, while the song "Sick Cycle Carousel" was a hit on the Christian radio stations. The band signed a deal with Sparrow Records for their second album, Stanley Climbfall, and solidified their hold in the Christian market and lessened their hold on mainstream radio. However, their third and self-titled album produced their biggest pop hit "You and Me" and their fourth album Who We Are, lessened their grip on the Christian market. And by their fifth through seventh albums the band's pop appeal had diminished as their post-grunge sound fell out of favor with pop radio.  HOW COULD ANYTHING BE BETTER THAN T
